Competitive Tap

Register Today

Tap dance is an amalgamation of several cultural dances, originating in the United States in the late 20th century. Tap is characterized by the percussive sounds of “taps” attached to the heels and toes of shoes striking the floor to a specific rhythm. The two major variations of tap are Rhythm tap, which is more focused on musicality, and Broadway tap, which is more dance-focused.

Stemming from roots in African dance, Irish jigs, and European clog dances, tap involves specific rhythmic footwork and combinations of movement.

About the Class

Our classes teach students the technical elements that create a strong foundation for tap dance. Our talented instructors teach creative choreography, combining challenging beats with precise footwork.

Our students are encouraged to practice and hone their skills and abilities, resulting in confident and gifted dancers. We teach various styles of tap, focusing on the Al Gilbert, ADAPT, ISTD Tap, CDTA, New York Style, and LA Style Syllabi.
