Performance & Competitive Division
Ballet

Our Ballet classes are designed to teach students the traditional graceful movements of classical Ballet. Dancers are encouraged to move with intention, poise, and elegance.

Classical Ballet is a very technical style of dance that requires strength and flexibility to perform, and we pride ourselves on having talented and experienced instructors. We offer the Royal Academy of Dance, Vaganova, and Cecchetti Syllabi to help our students achieve their goals and reach their highest potential.

Performance & Competitive Division Opportunities

Our Performance Division dancers are not required to participate in Competitions, but are invited to participate in our Performance Ensemble showcase and/or End-of-Year Recitals should they choose to. Information will be provided to registered dancers during the season.

Our Competitive Team Dancers are chosen and show interest in all Levels, Ages and Dance Genres. The Starting age for our Competitive Teams is 5 Years Old.

This is an opportunity for all dancers to be a part of our Competitive Team of like-minded students and add another exciting and fun experience to their dance training.

We have 2 Streams a Beginner Team called Rising Stars that competes in Calgary and a more Experienced Competitive Dance Team that does travel out of town to other Cities and Provinces.

Vaganova Ballet

The Vaganova Method is a Ballet training system designed by the Russian dancer and pedagogue Agrippina Vaganova (1879 – 1951). She perfected and cultivated the Vaganova technique and turned it into a viable syllabus.

The Vaganova Method fuses the romanticism of French Ballet with the athleticism of Italian Ballet. Designed to involve the whole body, the Vaganova Method increases consciousness of muscle movements by creating a harmony of movement and expressive range.

Cecchetti Ballet

The Cecchetti Method is a classical, theatrical style of Ballet that is based around the teachings of Italian Ballet master Enrico Cecchetti (1850-1928). Cecchetti was an international professional dancer before becoming a teacher, and his works are now world-renowned.

The Cecchetti Method develops the technical skills of Ballet, such as balance, poise, strength, and elasticity. The training regimen is meticulous, with the goal being that students learn to express themselves by internalizing basic principles to become self-reliant on the movements, rather than imitation.

Cecchetti dancers move with a purity of line and simplicity of style that allows them to work towards a future in Ballet.
